Intermediate Yoga builds focus for Artists -Where Strength meets Creativity
Intermediate Yoga builds focus for Artists by testing your balance and breathing, much like the focus you use when making art. Try a 10 minute intermediate yoga session in the late morning to help you feel more alert. These poses work your core, shoulders, spine, and legs, helping you build stability, flexibility, and balance. They also support healthy muscle growth.
Here are a few tips before you start practicing intermediate yoga poses.
Every yoga move affects people differently, especially as you transition from basic to intermediate. If you experience pain when doing any pose, stop or lessen the stretch or movement until you feel better. It is always better to do the pose correctly rather than incorrectly and pull a muscle or two. Always consult with a professional before diving in. Secondly continue to breathe and do not hold your breath at any point , slow, even paced breathing with doing any kind of yoga is always suggested unless the breath calls for a different kind of breathing.
Some of the suggested intermediate poses to build focus for Artists that you can do outside/at home:
Boat pose (Navkasana) improves core strength and works the hamstrings, and quads, bringing calm to your creativity as an artist.
Camel Pose (Ushtrasana) improves your mobility of the spine, stretches the frontal body from the neck to the quads. This is a great way to stretch out from sitting at a desk chair for extended periods of time. Advisable to use two blocks in case your hands cannot touch the feet on both sides.
Lotus pose (Padmasana- half or full) brings a sense of calm as a meditation practice, and it stretches your knees and ankles. When done correctly, it also opens up your hips, allowing you to ground your lower pelvis.
